Om or Aum is of paramount importance in Hinduism. This symbol is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the im Absolute omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. Om, therefore, represents both the unmanifest (nirguna) and manifest (saguna) aspects of God.
